Glasgow Warriors coach Dave Rennie (L), pictured with Leinster's former Chiefs wing James Lowe, is at risk of missing the European Champions Cup quarterfinals.
Wallabies-bound Kiwi coach Dave Rennie's Glasgow Warriors club faces elimination from the European Champions Cup after a costly home defeat to Ronan O'Gara's La Rochelle.
The French club edged Glasgow 12-7 in a pool game last weekend after Warriors forward Matt Fagerson was sent off for elbowing an opponent before Scott Cummings dotted down for a try in the final minute.
Rennie - yet to win a title in Europe in three seasons with Glasgow - is not giving up hope yet, but he told BBC Sport the Scots would need to beat English high-flyers Exeter Chiefs and Sale with bonus points to advance to the quarterfinals.
"The way a couple of groups are looking you going to need some big numbers to get through if you don't win your pool. Probably 19 [points] or so. It's not terminal but it's tougher from here," said Rennie, who will leave Glasgow at the end of the European season to take over as the Wallabies' head coach.

"We had all the ball and all the territory in the second half and couldn't get over the line," Rennie said. "Some of it was decision-making and a bit of patience.
"They constantly infringed down there. We had plenty of chances to put them away we just need to be more accurate."
Glasgow - who Rennie guided to a defeat to Leinster in last season's Pro 14 fnal - are still second in Pool 2, 10 points behind Leinster, but just three ahead of Sale.
Fiji international Levani Botia scored a try for La Rochelle, who rested captain Victor Vito and fellow former All Black Tawera Kerr-Barlow.
Meanwhile, Chris Boyd's Northampton Saints were brought back to earth with a second successive drubbing by European champions Leinster.
Northampton currently lead the English premiership with the Saints earning rave headlines with an attacking style championed by Boyd.
But they conceded seven tries for a second consecutive week in Leinster, losing 50-21 in Dublin after trailing 43-16 at Northampton.
Ireland centre Garry Ringrose grabbed a hat-trick in the Dublin drubbing. Kiwi wing James Lowe dotted down for the second consecutive week.
Boyd admitted after the game that Northampton "just weren't good enough".
"We just weren't good enough.
"We did not have much luck but, when you bring a side with a lot of inexperience against a team full of internationals, there will be a gulf.
"We never thought the result would have an influence on our position in the tournament but it was disappointing not to get the bonus point which we were really chasing."
Northampton fielded Boyd's former Hurricanes protege Matt Proctor at centre.
Meanwhile, ex-All Black George Moala scored a double and Isaia Toeava set up a try as Clermont thrashed English club Bath, 52-26.
Exeter beat Sale 35-10 to all but clinch a playoffs berth with brothers Sam (2) and Joe Simmonds sharing three tries.
Italian club Benetton Treviso beat Lyon 25-22 despite ex-All Black Rudi Wulf scoring for the French side.
New Zealand-born Scotland wing Sean Maitland scored a try in Saracens' 15-6 win over Munster.
Toulouse, fielding former All Black Jerome Kaino, had a 26-18 away win at Montpellier to preserve their unbeaten start in Pool 5. Former Crusaders cult hero Nemani Nadolo crossed for Montpellier, who had 37-year-old Kiwi Kahn Fotuali'i at halfback.
Connacht prevailed 27-24 win over Gloucester.
The leaders in four of the five pools - Leinster, Exeter, Ulster and Toulouse - have had four wins in the first four matches. Racing 92 lead Pool 4 with three wins and a loss.
